Quote of the Day for Tonight’s Republican Debate

I think President Dwight Eisenhower will be spinning in his grave during tonight’s GOP Presidential Debate.  Here’s what Ike wrote in 1954:

“Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history.  There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes you can do these things. … Their number is negligible and they are stupid.”

Hey, Tea Partiers, the Republican hero who won World War II and gave us the prosperity of the 50’s, thinks you’re stupid.  Of course, there’s no way Ike could get the GOP nomination today.
