Mitt Attacked Gay Classmate

A must read in today’s WaPo, “Mitt Romney’s prep school classmates recall pranks, but also troubling incidents,” Jason Horowitz.

Five of Mitt’s classmates have confirmed that in the spring of his senior year at Cranbrook, when Mitt was 18, he led an attack on a younger gay student, John Lauber, to hold him down and cut his bleached-blond hair.  “…[T]hey came upon Lauber, tackled him and pinned him to the ground.  As Lauber, his eyes filling with tears, screamed for help, Romney repeatedly clipped his hair with a pair of scissors.”

“‘It happened very quickly, and to this day it troubles me,’ said [Thomas] Buford, the school’s wrestling champion, who said he joined Romney in restraining Lauber.  Buford subsequently apologized to Lauber, who was ‘terrified,’ he said.  ‘What a senseless, stupid, idiotic thing to do.’

Another witness, David Seed, told WaPo that he ran into Lauber at O’Hare Airport in the mid-1990s.  He told Lauber that he was sorry he didn’t help him.  “Lauber paused, then responded, ‘It was horrible.’  He went on to explain how frightened he was during the incident, and acknowledged to Seed, ‘It’s something I have thought about a lot since then.'”

No one was punished for the incident.  But later that year, a fellow student turned Lauber in for smoking a cigarette, and Lauber was expelled.  Lauber later came out as gay to family and friends.  He died in 2004.

In an interview this morning, Mitt said he doesn’t remember the incident.

This story doesn’t surprise me.  If I read something like this about President Obama, though, I would be shocked.

While Chris Christie Is Tired of the Crazies, Mitt Romney Is Terrified of Them

Watching a clip of Mitt “I’m Also Unemployed” Romney meeting with the editorial board of the Union Leader reinforced why he troubles me so much.  He doesn’t have the guts to be our commander in chief.

Asked about the booing of the gay soldier who asked a question in the last debate, Mitt, unlike other GOP candidates, refused to criticize that booing because he doesn’t have the courage to stand up to the homophobes in his party.

Plus he got all “deer in the headlights” when asked about it.  Aside from being a phony and a flip-flopper, he is simply too timid for the job.

While Chris Christie refused to kowtow to the Islamophobes in the GOP, saying he was tired of the crazies, Mitt kowtows to the homophobes because he is terrified of the crazies.

If Mitt is so visibly shaken by a softball question from some newspaper editors, how is he going to react to a sudden dramatic crisis with Iran or North Korea?  I am really afraid of Mitt Romney because he himself is too afraid to lead.
