Trump has struck back at George Will, calling him the “dumbest political commentator of all time.”
But that response doesn’t have quite the oomph of Will’s calling Trump a “bloviating ignoramus,” does it?
To me, the fact that Mitt is so afraid of Trump that he feels compelled to campaign with him doesn’t say much about Mitt’s ability to take on Putin or Ahmadinejad, does it? There’s just something so craven and cowardly about Mitt, you can see it in his eyes.
“I do not understand the cost-benefit here. The costs are clear. The benefits – what voter is going to vote for him because he’s seen with Donald Trump? The cost of appearing with this bloviating ignoramus is obvious, it seems to me. Donald Trump is redundant evidence that if your net worth is high enough, your IQ can be very low, and you can still intrude into American politics.”
Conservative pundit George Will on ABC, exasperated that his guy Mitt is campaigning with birther Trump.
The Crazies are having a field day. The late Andrew Breitbart’s website discovered a promotional brochure from President Obama’s literary agency published in 1991 that says he was born in Kenya. Apparently, this biographical detail remained unchanged until 2007. As Rick Perry would say — Oops! Of course, it became a huge Drudge headline.
The Breitbart people said they were publishing it not because they believe it’s true (they’ll leave that to the Birthers), but because it shows that Obama has changed the way he wants to present himself at different points in his life. Of course, if you’re running for president, you’d damn well better present yourself as born in the United States.
One of the literary agents involved is describing it as a “fact-checking error,” but to the Birthers, it’s the Holy Grail.
After media reports yesterday that Donald Trump would endorse Newt, now the story is that he will endorse Mitt at 3:30 EST.
The Newt endorsement made sense to me, since I thought the Donald would think he was getting the concession to build condos, hotels, casinos, and golf courses on the moon. I also thought the Donald would be more comfortable with the guy who also has three wives.
It will be interesting to see how Mitt deals with questions about the Donald’s birther beliefs.
Cautious Mitt and flamboyant Trump certainly are an odd couple. Mitt’s campaign is going to have to spend a lot of time and energy ‘splaining outrageous stuff that Trump constantly spews.
Mitt Romney’s son Matt (Willard Matt?) called for President Obama to release his birth certificate. No, really, he did!
How many birthers are left? And they are illiterate, so how will they find Mitt’s name on the ballot?
Just as in a horror movie, when you think the monster is dead, and he gets up again, the birthers are back. Rick Perry’s saying he’s not convinced President Obama’s birth certificate is real.
I know Perry is desperate, with his crappy debate performances and his plunging polls, but birtherism? Really? That’s his comeback issue in an election about job creation?
Perry’s sudden interest in beating this dead horse is thanks to his having dinner with Donald Trump, who apparently whispered in his ear about the Communist Kenyan Muslim. What other idiots would Perry listen to if he were in the Oval Office?
Perry’s embrace of the fringe just helps Mitt “I’m Also Unemployed” Romney. Was that Trump’s plan all along? Both Mitt and the Donald are all hot for a trade war with China. Trump isn’t smart, but he’s clever, kind of like Sarah Palin.
