Roe v. Wade was decided in 1973, but IUDs have been widely used in this country for contraception since the late 1950’s. If IUDs cause abortions, they would have been illegal prior to Roe.
Why is Hobby Lobby even allowed to argue in court that IUDs cause abortions? Why are we going backwards?
Short answer, Yes. Several years ago I began telling people that the religious right in this country was not only after an overturn of Roe, but they also were after Griswold. People thought I was crazy that nobody really wanted to go after the right to use contraception and the bigger issue of right to privacy. Wrong, they are definitely after all rights of privacy and in the bigger picture this is necessary to impose and enforce biblical law. These people are as fanatical as the Taliban.
I know, the “Sharia” we have to worry about is Christian, not Islamic.
If the Hobby Lobby decision goes the wrong way the flood gates will be opened.
Some days, I just want to move to Ibiza. And I’m too old to have to worry about birth control or abortions!
Just remember it is only one step in imposing a theocracy. So it doesn’t matter if you are too old. Every fundamental religious zealot wants to control women in every aspect.
They want to control women and men according to their literal reading of the Bible. And yet they claim to love the Founding Fathers and the Constitution. It’s so sad — and so scary.
