Honor the Memory of Catherine Violet Hubbard

Catherine Violet Hubbard is being buried today in Newtown.  You’ve probably seen her picture — the little girl with bright red hair and bangs.

For those wishing to honor her memory, her parents Jennifer and Matthew have requested donations to the local animal shelter because she loved animals so much.  You can donate at http://www.theanimalcenter.org/donate.htm or by mail to The Animal Center, P. O. Box 475, Newtown, CT 06470.

I am hoping to use this blog to help generate donations from all 50 states plus some other countries.

My students are making snowflakes to decorate the new school that the Sandy Hook kids will be attending. Oh, so incredibly sad……

My husband and I (from Pittsburgh, PA) have made our donation to the Newtown Animal Center and to our own local Animal Friends shelter. In addition, as I was driving home from work on Dec. 21st, with tears streaming down my face as I thought about the parents who will not have their little ones on Christmas morning, I–totally on impulse when I thought about Catherine–turned left instead of right on my way home. And I made my way to an animal shelter. And that night, decided to adopt a long-time resident kitty who was having trouble finding a familiy of her own. She is named Violet and every day that she is part of our family, I will thank Catherine Violet Hubbard for her love of animals and for turning my car to the left that night. Bless you for your encouragement of others to give to the animals that Catherine loved so much.

    • I’m sitting here crying. What a lovely story! Thank you so much. I currently have three cats (and two dogs), but I had already decided that my next kitty will be named Violet. I wish your Violet a long and happy life with you.
Many blessings to you and your family in 2013.
