Does Mitt Have Aspergers Syndrome?

I looked at a picture of Mitt with Ed Miliband, the leader of Britain’s opposition Labour Party, and suddenly a little light bulb went on.  I’d seen that fake, forced smile a thousand times, but, all of a sudden, it occurred to me that Mitt may have Aspergers, which is part of the autism spectrum.

People with Aspergers lack empathy and have difficulty with social situations.  Basically, they find it very hard to relate to other people, to put themselves in their shoes.

If Mitt has Aspergers, it would explain a lot.

I posted right after Aurora urging everyone to watch Mitt’s comments about the tragedy, and his weird, insincere, robotic affect.  Aspergers would explain why he was so “off” when he made his statement.

It would explain stuff like “Corporations are people too” and “I enjoy firing people.”

It would explain his ruthlessness in the way Bain closed businesses and fired people without severance, health care, pensions, job training.  As Mitt’s opponent in his run for governor, Shannon O’Brien, asked about one such closing, “Couldn’t Bain have made $80 million on that deal instead of $100 million and helped the displaced workers?”  But if Mitt has Aspergers, he has a complete inability to imagine what getting fired was like for those people.

It would explain his citing the time he put his dog Seamus on the roof of the car as an example of his ability to solve problems, and having no clue why other people were horrified by that story.

I really think there’s more going on with Mitt than just being a spoiled, sheltered rich person.  A lot of rich people have genuine smiles.  If I had $250 million, I’d be grinning all the time.

Sean Hannity has been using the tag line “Can you afford four more?” about President Obama.  I wonder if we can afford a president with Aspergers, a president with no empathy at a time when so many Americans are suffering.

No, I don’t think he has Asperger’s syndrome. Just Rich Asshole syndrome.

If he won’t release his tax returns, how are we going to see his medical records?

Shouldn’t presidential candidates be obliged to release medical records including psychiatric records?

Doesn’t the electorate not only deserve to see these records, but have an absolute right to see them?
If you are not running for the office of “leader of the free world”, your medical records should be protected under HIPA and the general rules of confidentiality that traditionally govern these issues. But when you claim to be qualified for such high office, the people have the right to know the candidate does not have a debilitating physical illness and is not a “wack job”.

In Willard Romney’s case, Aspergers syndrome seems a reasonably likely case as the blogger suggests.

I want to see all his medical records and all his tax returns for the last twenty years.

Mitt would call it being “honest” . . . .

As a special education teacher for more than 25 years, and a person who has met Mitt, I would state categorically, 100% positively NO, he does not have Asperger Syndrome. That would be a handy excuse, but it give people with the disability a bad name.
He was comfortable, open, warm, even sort of charming when I met him (he was governor then). Slimy, but not socially awkward.
What you are seeing now, I think, is the horrible effect of a basically decent human being who is willing to contort himself into any horrific position if he thinks it will get him a vote. The guy is a shill at this point, being crafted and molded by whoever it is who really pulls the strings in the Republic Party.
    Anyone seen Karl Rove lately?

  5. I couldn’t understand how a man could put their beloved family member on a car roof, but this diagnosis makes sense – even, if he doesn’t have AS – there is an explanation why some people do the things that they do.

  6. This movie was too good and full of action.

  7. Even I don’t think that Mitti is suffering from aspergers syndrome. He should defer expert.
