Smart Guy Newt Draws Dumb Conclusion

Newt Gingrich says that the pounding he’s getting from the Republican establishment proves that he’s an outsider.

No, it just proves that other insiders who know him really well think that he’s a crazy, unstable, unreliable insider.

Fair point. This whole insider/outsider debate is a bit of a smokescreen – does anyone really think, when it comes down to it, that a true outsider to political corruption in all of its forms would ever reach the presidency, let alone the nomination of a major political party? Everyone knows, I think, on some gut level that Romney and Newt and even Obama have unfortunately strong ties to the financial industry, through its interests, and that lobbyists are far too powerful in our politics today.

The insiders won’t count. It’s the people who will count.

Newt forgets that only insiders get hated by other insiders. Outsiders are so beyond their comprehension that they are treated as truly other by insiders—look at how the insiders treat Ron Paul.
